Visitor Information

We know when you first walk into a place that is unfamiliar it can be an uncomfortable experience.  However, we believe when you visit Ruter Chapel UMC, you will get a sense of the welcoming spirit that is here.  Regardless of who you are or where you come from, you have a place here with us.  Realizing the importance of creating a loving and inviting atmosphere especially for our visitors, we hope the following information will help you, our guests, to feel at home with us.

PARKING: When you arrive, you will see that street parking is available. We are located at the corner of Union Street and West Main Street. Our handicap parking is located in front of the church entrance.

FINDING YOUR WAY AROUND: Everyone who is present will assist you in any way so that you may have a positive worship experience.  Greeters and those others who attend regularly are happy to answer your questions and help you to find your way around the church.

RESTROOMS:  Restrooms are located on the Main Level, it's the first door to the left.

ATTIRE: Dress comfortably.  You will notice people attending service in everything from slacks & jeans to skirts & dresses; coats and ties to business casual.  At Ruter Chapel UMC, it matters not how God’s people are dressed…we are just thankful God’s people are together!

Worship Service: 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M.

The Sacrament of Holy Communion is served on the first Sunday of the month.  You do not have to be a member of this church or any church to receive Holy Communion.  The Lord’s Table is open to all who are seeking to know Jesus Christ.  Out of sensitivity to children and those who may have issues with alcohol, we use the unfermented juice of the grape (grape juice) when celebrating Holy Communion.

We do not ask guests to lift their hands to be publicly acknowledged during any of our worship services, however, you are welcome to do so if compelled.  We do however ask that visitors simply fill out a Visitor Card (found in the pews) letting us know that we did indeed have new friends among us.

As the people of The United Methodist Church, we embrace “Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors”.  In this spirit we offer to you and your family a safe place where you are nurtured and encouraged to grow in the Christian faith.  Whether you are seeking after or are awakening to faith for the first time or have been ‘churched’ all your life, your experience of God is of utmost importance to us.  If you have questions about what it means to live a Christian life, we invite you to reach out to us.  If you have questions about the various ministries Chapel Church provides or if you have ideas for new ministries, we invite you to fill out a comment card in the "visit us" section on this web page or to find the staff person who oversees that particular ministry area.

We hope to have you involved with our church family very soon!
